We are proud to recognize Marci Houff, Founder of Chic Awearness, as our Good Deeds recipient for the month of September, which is also Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. An ovarian cancer survivor herself, Marci is on a mission to help as many patients as possible and has raised over $200,000 for research so far.
“When hearing the words in 2008, “You have ovarian cancer”, two thoughts came to mind immediately: I have a four year old daughter and ovarian cancer is the silent killer. Ten years later, I am truly one of the lucky women to have survived late stage ovarian cancer. My beautiful daughter is now a freshman in high school and the charity that I founded in 2013 called Chic Awearness has succeeded in raising the awareness in Nashville of this deadly disease.
But, it has been through the partnership with T.J. Martell Foundation that Chic Awearness has gone to the next level. In just the past two years, our signature event has funded over $200,000 to cutting edge ovarian cancer research. This year’s Chic Awearness event on September 24th is anticipated to be another smash! Our ambitions to improve early detection, advance treatment options and eventually cure ovarian cancer are succeeding and the T.J. Martell Foundation is a centerpiece to this achievement.”
